A White Hall man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Gravel Pit Road Saturday.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Operations Commander Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr., the pedestrian was identified as John Sloan, 39, of White Hall.

The motorist of the vehicle that reportedly struck Sloan has been identified as Scott Allen, 54, who at the time of the accident was accompanied by his wife, Susie Allen.

Neither Allen were injured in the accident.

Allen reported that Sloan was walking along Gravel Pit Road near Highway 365 when the collision occurred.

Woods said deputies were sent to Gravel Pit Road, near Highway 365 at about 7:40 p.m. in response to the accident.

Deputy Coroner Jason Duren pronounced Harris dead at the scene. Sloan’s body will be sent to the State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of death, said Jefferson County Coroner, Chad Kelly.

The accident is under investigation.
