The Arkansas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, recently announced that the URS Corporation, associated with the Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (PBCDF) at the Pine Bluff Arsenal (PBA), has been honored with an Above and Beyond Award in recognition of its “extraordinary support of its employees who serve in the Arkansas National Guard and Reserve.
“The award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize American employers who provide extraordinary patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Arkansas ESGR Chairman Don Morrow, a long-time member of the governor-appointed PBA Citizens Advisory Commission. “Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
“Those who choose to serve their state and country by serving in the National Guard and Reserve are making a commitment to each of us,” said Guy Campbell, URS’ project general manager at PBCDF. We are proud of that commitment and pleased that we can assist them.”
This was the second consecutive year that PBCDF’s URS concern won the ESGR recognition.
“URS joins with thousands of American employers who have reviewed and amended their current human resources policies to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act Law (USERRA),” said Morrow.
“Many employers provide ‘above and beyond’ support with pay differential to offset the loss of wages, and extension of health care benefits which complement coverage provided by the military when their employees are mobilized.”
