Aldermen David Beck and Joel Foster were appointed to the White Hall Museum board and retired businessman Vic Brown was named as a trustee of the Carter Estate at a Monday night city council meeting.
The Carter Estate includes the museum and adjacent veterans memorial.
Mayor James “Jitters” Morgan announced that the new Leadership White Hall class is underway. Class members meet in a variety of settings over several months as they learn about city business and government operations.
Morgan also said that the street department is “catching up” on repairs to and installation of culverts. He said department personnel “fell behind” because of recent rains.
The mayor issued a reminder that the Pine Bluff Arsenal will host an Oct. 20 chamber of commerce meeting. He said the arsenal hosts a chamber meeting semi-annually to keep chamber members informed on arsenal developments and activities.
Morgan asked that a reminder be issued on the city’s Wednesday pickup of leaves. “Two things to remember,” said Morgan. “First, you have to bag the leaves, and, secondly, you have to telephone city hall to request a pickup.”
Police Chief Noel Foster announced that the 2010 White Hall Policeman’s Ball will be held on Feb. 13 at the Sahara Shrine Temple on Main Street in Pine Bluff.
Proceeds from the event help to finance the department’s community outreach.
