White Hall’s Throneberry is field and classroom pacesetter at UCA

Tye Throneberry, a 2005 White Hall High School graduate, was recently named the University of Central Arkansas Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
    Throneberry, a son of Mark and Debbie Throneberry of White Hall, earned a 4.2 grade point average at WHHS, where he was an all-state performer in baseball under coach Skip Carr and all-district in football, basketball and baseball.
    At UCA here, he’s a member of the Southland Conference All-Academic Team. Majoring in biology, he has a 3.6 grade point average.
    With the Bears’ baseball squad the past season, Throneberry topped UCA offensively with a .374 batting average, registering 14 doubles and four home runs. He batted in 34 runs.
    During the past two summers, Throneberry has played on the Springfield, Mo., Generals team in the Mink League, a collegiate affiliation with over 80 squads in Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. In last season’s championship series, Throneberry notched the ninth-highest batting average at .412 and was fifth in on-base percentage at .524.
