You Can't Make this Up

Blessings

Here comes the holidays, folks! Shopping, giving, receiving, eating, drinking, and the infamous, “We don’t need those instructions to put this here swing set together, just give me a beer and watch this!”
How many of us forget the one thing that we should reflect on at this time of year? How many of us do not look at our blessings? Recently, a dear friend that I knew in my younger years, and I reconnected with online within the past year, passed away from a tragic accident. She left behind two beautiful children, and so many friends and family that loved and adored her. In the midst of all this, I was once again reminded my blessings, and how they can easily be taken away in a split second.
We all have done it. We forget our comforts due to stress and issues that drive us to the brink, instead of looking at what we are blessed to have. We look to substances or infatuations for comfort instead of family, friends, love, positive activity, or any comfort that lasts or to which you can turn without regret. The only time we look back is when tragedy happens. Why we do so as humans, I will never be able to understand, and believe it will never make sense to everyone.
If you have not told your spouse, kid, parent, friend, anyone, or anything that has blessed you in your life, that has given you comfort, and you cherish that they mean so much to you, do so. If they are sitting beside you as we speak, do so. Let them know that they make you feel so wanted, and loved. For this holiday season, we should reflect, support, and give back what our loved ones have given us. If you can’t find something with which you are blessed, then just be blessed with life in general. Just remember, no matter how hard or lonely this world gets, my friend, you are blessed!
To all my readers, old and new, thank you for supporting my article and the White Hall Journal this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
