Laurel Eliza Smith passed away May 9, 2018

Laurel Eliza Smith, 19, of Redfield, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Arkansas Children’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

            She was born March 17, 1999 in El Dorado, daughter of Steve and Lisa Bronson Smith of Redfield.

            Laurel was reared and received her early education in Redfield. After she became ill, she received home Schooling from 3 wonderful teachers for the 9th grade. Laurel was then enrolled in k12 at the Arkansas Virtual Academy for 10th thru the 12th grade where she graduated as Valedictorian of the Academy’s first graduating class in 2017.

            She was very creative.  Laurel loved arts and crafts, particularly polymer clay, doing puzzles, playing board games and card games. Over the last few years, she became very good at many crafts, including crocheting.  Laurel loved to show off her work and even give it away for use in local charity events.

            Laurel loved animals, particularly dogs.  She enjoyed volunteering at Redfield Friends of the Animals and the Pulaski County Humane Society and aspired to be a Veterinarian.

            Recently, Laurel and her family got the chance to go to the beach in Flagler Beach, Florida thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and her amazing local support system and a private charter from Steve’s company to get them there.  She was very grateful for the opportunity to experience a beach with clear water and the chance to collect a few seashells.

            She was a member of River Road Baptist Church in Redfield.

            Laurel was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Bronson.

            Along with her parents, survivors include four sisters, Ashley Jones (Adam) of Benton, Riley Smith of Redfield, Avery Smith of Redfield and Samantha Wronski (Will) of Rutland Massachusetts; and grandparents, Lucille Bronson, Carolyn Leuenhagen and Noel and Nancy Smith; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.

            A memorial service will be 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Family Church in White Hall with Reverend Dan McDonald officiating.  A memorial gathering will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cranford Funeral Home.
