A Sheridan woman was arrested and jailed after leading White Hall Police Officer Bo Hudson on a car chase here and into Pine Bluff about 12:40 a.m. Thursday, April 30.
Hudson reported that wh-ile on patrol in the area of Sheridan Road, he witnessed a Mazda Millennia, later determined to be driven by 27-year-old Amber Haynie, leaving the Big Red Travel Plaza eastward on Sheridan Road. As the vehicle was driven through the Robin Road intersection, it veered left of center and then was steered back across the eastbound lane and onto the road’s shoulder.
Hudson activated his patrol car’s emergency lights and siren in an effort to stop the Mazda, which instead was accelerated to a speed of about 65 miles an hour while repeatedly veering from the shoulder to the turning lane. Haynie slowed to about 45 miles an hour near the Oxford Lane intersection and then stopped at the Dawg House at 6000 Sheridan Rd. in Pine Bluff.
Hudson spoke with Hay-nie, who was leaning into the front passenger seat. Detecting a strong odor of intoxicants, Hudson saw a whiskey bottle in the left rear floor.
Haynie told Hudson that she had no insurance or registration on the vehicle, which Hudson found to be registered to another person. It was determined that Haynie was not a licensed driver.
Exiting her vehicle, Hay-nie had difficulty maintaining her balance. She was charged with fleeing, driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving left of center and driving without a license and liability insurance.
A subsequent inventory of the Mazda resulted in the discovery of four beer cans.
Haynie was transported by Officer Chris Meyer to  the White Hall Police Department for a breath test, which was videoed. Haynie registered .162. Arkansas’ legal limit is .08.
Haynie was transported to the Dub Brassell Detention Center in Pine Bluff. The Mazda was impounded.
