OPINION | LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Not hard to see

Not hard to see

Editor, The Commercial,

I'm sure it didn't take one long to see through the mayoral candidate's Ethics Complaint filed by a concerned citizen. There is nothing wrong with a concerned citizen being an ardent supporter of the impaired Go Forward(?) Pine Bluff group. Not to say our tax dollars are funding one opponent over another in a political race for mayor, but ....?

While on the subject of the mayoral race, I guess we need to thank those who did not participate in the City Council's recent vote concerning convenience stores. Did there happen to be some votes in the forthcoming election to be won or lost on this particular issue?

Sure raises an eyebrow as to what politics were involved in the value to restrict growth/jobs. Also of concern is why the City Council would be conducting a feasibility study on a grocery store? Are we going to get in the grocery business along with the movie theater and Go Kart track business?

It seems we should be providing information requested by respective stores for them to conduct a study. I may have assumed wrong, but have always considered an economic agenda better for long term growth than that of a socialist agenda that tries to pick the winners from losers.

Interesting read concerning the "Struggling For Growth" articles in Sunday's (March 31) DemGaz and the paths taken by our fellow Arkansans in their struggles to grow. Before Pine Bluff spends additional millions for plastic surgery on decaying buildings that will require millions more in the near future, let's saddle up our thoroughbred(s) that have blinders, not blind.

Mike Lankford,

Pine Bluff
