The main entrance to the Little Rock VA hospital is temporarily closing for construction for up to two months beginning Sept. 1. The hospital’s south entrance – closest to I-630 – will be the main entry point during the construction, according to a hospital news release.
As part of the main entry closure at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital, patient parking will shift to the south to accommodate easier entry into the facility through the south entrance. Lots A and B (director and physician parking) will be open to veterans and the public. Lot C and main parking will remain open. Handicap parking has been added to an area very close to the south entrance and may be accessed via Lots B and C.
The construction will affect the main entrance hallway and access to the Emergency Department from the facility’s Green Atrium. The exterior emergency department entry will remain open but there will be no access to the Green Atrium.
McClellan is undergoing a flooring modernization project on the first floor of the facility as part of a long-term project to improve the Veterans’ experience at the VA. Once the main entrance area is complete, the Red Atrium near the south entrance will undergo modernization.
