Kiara M. Hargrove, a senior at White Hall High School, was awarded $250. She is the daughter of Lena and Kenneth Corbin and a member of First Trinity Church of God in Christ.

Unified Christian Alliance Inc. presented scholarships to 12 area high school seniors who plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, according to a news release.

Awards were given May 6 during the alliance’s 21st annual Baccalaureate Service at Breath of Life Church. The speaker was the Rev. Brian L. Castle, pastor of Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church.

The award recipients received the following scholarships:

Kerissa Gipson, a senior at Dollarway High School received $1,000. She is the daughter of Debra Clark and a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Alexandra Slater, a senior at Dumas High School, received $500. She is the daughter of Ocie and Danny Slater and a member of Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church.

Nia Smith, a senior at Little Rock Central High School, received $500. She is the daughter of Stacey Smith and a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Elise Darton, a senior at Pine Bluff High School, received $500. She is the daughter of Arnold and Damiccah Robertson and a member of Mount Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.

Jylia Spencer, a senior at Pine Bluff High School, received $500. She is the daughter of Erica Toots and a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.

Collin Reece Branch, a senior at Watson Chapel High School, received $500. He is the son of Annette and Cornovious Branch and a member of St. John AME Church at Watson.

Ma’Kaylah Blackston, a senior at Pine Bluff High School, received $250. She is the daughter of Aprile and Lawrence Kenney and a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Tye’Sha Fields, a senior at Watson Chapel High School, received $250. She is the daughter of Armanda Richardson and a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Kaeiona Thorn, a senior at Dollarway High School, received $250. She is the daughter of Stephanie Patterson-Harris and a member of Oak Grove Central Baptist Church.

Alexis Larkins, a senior at Watson Chapel High School, was awarded $250. She is the daughter of Angela Evans and a member of Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Unified Christian Alliance is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to local high school students who plan to attend UAPB. The president is Jennifer L. Lee. Board members are Douglas Allen, Brittany Austin, Joyce Butler, Chrishauna Roberts, Dexter Lee, Betty LaGrone, Jean Holloman, Carl Whimper and Steven Mays Jr.
