Boxes of used televisions, computers, stereo systems and other electronic items sit at the Jefferson County Recycling Center Monday waiting to be picked up and recycled by an out-of-state firm. The center also accepts plastic, paper and cardboard and is open six days a week. The center is located behind Pope Furniture Co. on East Harding Avenue. A separate facility on Gravel Pit Road recycles tires and makes rubber chips which are sold to Evergreen Packaging Co. to use in their boilers.
