Many of the exhibitors I either hadn't heard of them, or if I had, didn't know what they did. Now I do. One thing I certainly didn't know is that Simmons Bank cooks some awesome hot dog! Seriously. I believe this is something people in a meeting Pine Bluff know already. I got the impression that Simmons’ serve hot dogs at other events besides the Expo. I overheard several others discussing how great tasting the hot dogs were. They were. Don't what hot dogs and banking have to do with each other, but Simmons does.

If you didn't attend the Pine Bluff Business Expo last week, you missed a great opportunity to see some area businesses showcased! I'm not sure how many were represented but if I had to guess I'd say it was close to 100! In a meeting addition to businesses, some exhibitors were services from the city or county offices. Prior to the Expo opening, there was a Small Business Breakfast, with guest speaker, Sidney Moncrief, former Razorback, now Managing Partner of Moncrief One Team. Moncrief was an excellent speaker and several points he made were so real and honest, I hope his words sink in to the listeners. If they do, it could change our world. His topic, Being a Game Changer, was very timely.

But if you want to hold a VIP reception and a grand opening and ribbon cutting at a beautiful new bank, then you want to visit Stone Bank in a meeting White Hall. I had the privilege of attending both events and meeting some very nice people, including a newlywed couple. Congrats to the former Gayla Horne of the new Stone Bank. She and husband, Keith Bogy were recently wed and had just gotten back from a honeymoon in Cancun. Both the reception and ribbon cutting held on Thursday courtesy of the White Hall Chamber of Commerce were great. A chance to meet the people behind this new concept in banking they offer. It's called IT, for interactive teller. Pretty futuristic if you ask me.

The BEST part of my week though came on Wednesday afternoon and Friday when I got to babysit my grandson, Holden!  Total awesomeness! He makes me smile so much my jaws hurt! He has such personality and boy, does he know it! When I take his picture and show himself to him, he just grins and looks at me, then back at himself and grins bigger! As if to say, “I sure am a handsome little guy!” And he has the cutest little cackle when he laughs at something! Especially one or both of the dogs, but mostly Suki because she has this goofy face she does, she grins I swear, shows all her teeth in a grin that Holden's just cracks up at! What really gets me though is when Holden reaches for me! This Crazy Grandma just melts!

I must give a shout out to David Webb of England who replaced all three of the belts on my car Saturday (his day off too)!! Thank you to my neighbor, Hillary for the ride to work Thursday, and to Sam and Brandon for giving me a ride home! Lastly, Thank you to Tanner at the Apple Store for getting my phone working again without making me wait for two and a half hours! I often say thanks to people in my column for the good they do. Why? Because so often we are quick to put the bad things out there, but not the good. I believe in shouting about the good even more! Then maybe, just maybe, more people will do good! Wouldn't that make the world a better place?

Until next time...
