The body of a boater missing since Sunday was found Thursday around 8 p.m. near the Garrison Avenue Bridge, according to the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, and has been identified by family members and the Sheriff’s Office as William Farhat of Arkoma.
Farhat and his wife, Kristy, have been missing since their boat capsized near Lock and Dam 14 on the Arkansas River. Their sons, Physher, 6, and Weston, 4, had made it to shore, where Weston was able to find help and Physher was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where he later died.
Kristy, the children’s stepmother, is still missing.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has taken over the ongoing investigation, according to the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
