Danny-Joe Crofford – a Little Rock talk-radio guru who, despite being of Korean descent, is also known to his listeners as “The Chinese Gangster of Love” – is coming home as the guest speaker at the upcoming annual White Hall Chamber of Commerce Community Service Awards Banquet.
Crofford, a 1993 graduate of White Hall High School and a son of Danny and Kim Crofford of White Hall, is producer of KABZ 103.7 The Buzz’s popular “The Show With No Name,” which broadcasts Monday through Friday from 6-10 a.m. The program is hosted by Tommy Smith and David Bazzel. Crofford’s association with the pair dates back over 15 years.
Crofford was featured in the Jan. 21 issue of The Journal.
Nominations are being accepted through Monday, Feb. 16, for community service awards in five categories – the W.F. “Jack” Moody Award, Clara Burton Education Award, Bridges-Socia Memorial Award for Work With Youth, Youth Award and Senior Citizen Award. Nomination forms can be found within The Journal and are also available at city hall.
Completed nomination forms can be mailed to Mayor James “Jitters” Morgan, White Hall City Hall, P.O. Box 20100, White Hall, Ark. 71612, or dropped off at city hall. “If you know of a White Hall resident who has given his or her time and talents to make White Hall a great place to live, nominate them for an award,” encouraged Morgan.
Winners will be announced at the March 3 banquet, to be held in the high school cafeteria.
Tickets are priced at $15 each and may be purchased by telephoning Journal Publisher Vicki Kelly at 870-247-4700, extension 102.
