With the bus stops filled with kids and the slew of yellow busses making their routes on Monday morning, it was obvious that school was back in session.
Classrooms, for the most part, were stocked and ready for the students to file in and do their work, because for the teachers making those preparations, school began weeks ago.
The day continued without any major mishaps making the first day of school a pleasant and successful one for all.
This year, if it seems as though school started a bit early, thats because it did, by just a few days, bringing some relief to the tight schedule the district normally tends with. However, next year school will not begin until Aug. 20 and students can look forward to a couple of more weeks of summer vacation.
Also this year White Hall Junior High School will be utilizing a new identification program. Students will be required to wear lanyards with an I.D. badge that can be scanned on site by officials for the purpose of identification with hopes of soon incorporating such things as lunches, media center and the tardy system. “This is taking us out of 1980’s and putting us closer to 2011,” said principal Don Stringer at a recent meeting of the White Hall School Board. “I want every advantage I can have,” he added.
For more information about attendance dates and other school related correspondence, the White Hall School District has a very useful and user friendly website.
At http://www.whitehallsd.org lots of pertinent information can be found as well as schedules, daily announcements, lunch menus, staff directory and  pages for each teacher to post classwork and other things specific to a particular class.  A district calendar of dates to remember including open house and parent/teacher conferences can be accessed at any time.
