The date is set for 6:30 p.m. March 6, and forms are now available at City Hall to nominate this year’s best of the best for the annual White Hall Chamber of Commerce Community Awards Banquet.

This year’s award categories include the W.F. Jack Moody Award for overall community service; the Clara Burton Education Award; the Bridges-Socia Memorial Award for Youth, awarded to a high school student; the Youth Award, given to someone who works with youth; the Senior Citizen Award; Volunteer Fireman of the Year; and Volunteer Police Officer of the Year.

New this year is the James “Jitters” Morgan Small Business Award.

The speaker will be Brian Polansky, an award-winning educator, speaker and author of education programs designed to encourage professional success through communication excellence.

After completing a doctorate in communication studies at the University of Kansas in 1992, Polansky joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR). He has provided communication education and curriculum development to law enforcement agencies since 1993 including the FBI National Academy, the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, International Association of Police Chiefs, Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute and police academies, law enforcement associations, and leadership schools throughout the United States.

Polansky is now president of Polansky and Associates and is in constant demand to present professional development seminars to a wide variety of professionals in corporate business and government service. Popular topics include communication excellence, persuasive skills, verbal fitness, team leadership, ethics and professional success and communicating with difficult people.  
All nomination forms must be turned back in to City Hall by Feb. 17.
