Mary Josephine Clifton Hopson, 85, of White Hall, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Born April 24, 1927 in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clifton and Mamie Young. Mrs. Hopson served as a nurse during WWII where she met her husband. After their marriage, they moved to Pine Bluff where she concentrated on raising their five children. She was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church where she belonged to the Dorcas Circle and taught vacation bible school. Mrs. Hopson enjoyed quilting and gardening vegetables that she and Mr. Hopson sold at the farmer's market. An avid hunter and fisherman, she also belonged to the Pine Bluff Arsenal's Rod & Gun Club as well as the Big Branch Hunting Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Hopson on April 4, 2006; son, Curtis Hopson; and an infant daughter, Melissa. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Hopson, and David Hopson (Jane); daughters, Gwendolyn Cherry and Sherrie Hopson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hopson; and siblings, Joe Clifton and Judy Young; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m., at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Myron “Bud” Calhoun officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
