Vallie Mary Harvill Smith, 89, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at her home.
Born May 30, 1923, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of Jessie L. and Jennie Kimbrell Harvill.
Mrs. Smith was reared and received her early education in Cleveland County. Vallie Mary Harvill married Van Henry Smith on October 23, 1937, in Kellso, Arkansas. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1938. Mrs. Smith worked for the Ben Pearson Archery Company for seventeen years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to garden and spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include five sons, James E. Smith and Jessie Roy Smith of Pine Bluff, Charles H. Smith of Follett, Texas, Shelby Gene Smith, and Bobby Lee Smith of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Patricia Ann Cummings, and Brenda Kay Bishop of Pine Bluff, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Greenlee Baptist Church, 4901 Old Warren Rd. Pine Bluff, AR 71603, with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.
