  • Virginia Sloop Rushing, age 86, of White Hall, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

  • Mrs. Rushing was born January 19, 1926, in Kingsland, a daughter of the late Bennie Lee and Ruth Pearl Sloop.


    Mrs. Rushing was reared and educated in Kingsland, graduating from Kingsland High School.


    She was a homemaker and a member of Hardin Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Jefferson County and Hardin Home Extension Clubs. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.


    She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Gene Rushing, whom she married November 23, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters and a brother.


    Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry G. and Barbara Rushing of White Hall, daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Paul Sims of Dayton, Ohio; one grandson, two granddaughters and a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend and caregiver, Gwendolyn Fells. Also, a very special "Thank You" to all the wonderful caregivers and Hospice Angels who provided support.


    Graveside services were held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Johnny Taylor who officiated.


    The family received friends at Robinson's Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM.

    Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hardin Baptist Church, 300 Todd Lynn Drive, White Hall, Arkansas 71602.
