Vivian Goad Rogers of White Hall, died Thursday, May 24, 2012.
She was born Aug. 28, 1928 at Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late Graves Goad and Luna Mae Linson Goad. She was a graduate of Altheimer High School and was a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, where she worked as church secretary from 1970-1987. After her retirement, she worked part-time as secretary at Second Baptist Church from 1998-2007.
Vivian Rogers married Jimmy Rogers Jr. on Oct. 26, 1956, and he predeceased her on Feb. 24, 1987.
Her survivors include three daughters, Debbie Brattan (Andy) of Ward, Lynn Word (Steve) of Bearden, and Sammie Sheftic of White Hall; a brother, Milton Goad (Shirley) of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Lucy Nannie (George) of Carlisle, Linda Chappell (Bobby) of England and Pam Williamson (Nick) of Texarkana; eight grandchildren, Mark Word, Drew Word, Tracy Langdon, Steven Word, Andrew Word, Matthew Word, Rebekah Word, and Lindsey Wingard; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Rogers’ grandsons, Steven Word, Matthew Word, and Andrew Word officiated. Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
