Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council elects new officers

50 members attended the Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council event.

Lauren Elizabeth Jackson of Redfield graduated from Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts on May 25, at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs. She attended classes at Redfield and White Hall from Kindergarten to tenth grade and Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts in the eleventh and twelfth grades. She is a daughter of Travis and Patsy Jackson. Jackson received finalist standing in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program and is in the top one percent of US high school graduating seniors. She is a member of the ASMSA Student Government Association, Swing Dance Club, Youth Advisory Council and is an AP Scholar. Jackson was recruited by many colleges and accepted the Presidential Scholarship to the University of Tulsa, where she will major in chemistry.

Recent WHHS graduate Abigail Rogne, has been awarded an Academic Achievement Scholarship from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is a daughter of Brian Rogne of White Hall.

White Hall High School senior, Justin McCarty was recognized for receiving two scholarships at a recent scholarship awards assembly held at the school. McCarty received a Baseball Scholarship as well as a University Achievement Scholarship. He signed a letter of intent with the university in November to begin in the fall of 2013. He is a son of Ron and Betsy McCarty of White Hall.

Wildman Race Track will be having their first Mud Race of the 2013 Season at Noon on Saturday, June 8. The track is located at 9322 Huntley Trail in Pine Bluff. During the race, fellow mudders will be competing on a horse-shoe shaped race track for $7000 payout in cash and trophies. General admission is $15 per person. Additional mud races are scheduled for the season on Saturday, July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 7, and Oct. 5, all of which will begin at noon at Wildman Race Track. A truck driven by local mud racing team The Fat boys, Marshall Browning of White Hall, and Rocky Coleman of Pine Bluff, makes waves at a mud race. The Fat boys will be competing at Saturday�s event.

A Group of Taylor Elementary School students helped to save lives recently by parterning with the American Heart Association and Jump Rope For Heart held at the school. Their combined efforts raised a total of $501.
